Brainstorming for questions, not answers, was not something I tried before. That came to me at that time, probably because I recently read the Parker Palmer's sociologist start working on creative discovery through an open and honest investigation. But this technique has worked so well with the students I started experimenting with her in counseling commitments and possibly he has evolved into a methodology that I continue to refine. Now, I used it with hundreds of customers, including World Teams in Chanel, Danone, Disney, Ey, Fidelity, Genentech, Salesforce and dozens of other companies; non-profit associations; and individual leaders I trained. The underlying approach is a broader recognition than fresh issues often have new "brain storm lead transformative information. Consider this example of the field of psychology: before 1998, virtually all well-trained psychologists focused on the attack on the roots of mental disorders and deficits, on the hypothesis that well-being amounted to the absence of these negative conditions. But then Martin Seligman became president of the American Psychological Association and he gave up his colleagues. What if, he asked in a speech at the annual meeting of APA, well-being is equally motivated by the presence of certain positive flower conditions that could be recognized, measured and cultivated? With this question, the positive movement of psychology was born. Brainstorming for questions rather than responses facilitates the thrust of cognitive biases and adventurers in unexplored territory. We have seen this dynamic in academic studies - in the social psychologist, the research of Adam Galinsky on the power of recycling during the transition periods, for example. Yet, in a question of questioning does not come naturally to most people because we are conditioned from the youngest age to keep the answers to come.
